DD#34 – Universal Human Needs

For a long time, whenever I think about human needs and motivation, I think about Maslov pyramid. It’s simple, easy to related to, and help us justify the attitude of “money first“, “safety first“. Then recently, I was fascinated when I heard about Maxneef’s system during research about sustainability. The concept of capitals -> satisfiers -> needs is beautiful, but the list of 9 needs is quite daunting and hard to fully understand. I was a bit more confused. But still, I went into the Drawing session today intended to draw about it.

And then I arrived at this model from Simon Hertnon, I felt instant delight. It is so elegant and really resonate with me. I highly recommend you to read it – it’s short.
